Our crowdfunding campaign has ended but you can still support the Brian Wilson Scholarship Fund by clicking here.
The Brian Wilson Scholarship for Composition, Arrangement and Production of Popular Music has been established by David Leaf, in honor of his friend Brian Wilson and in memory of his late wife, Eva Easton Leaf. David and Eva shared a decades-long friendship with Brian - who helped to introduce them - and had a special love for his music and his artistry.
The Brian Wilson Scholarship at UCLA will provide promising young musicians at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music with a passion for composing, arranging and producing popular music with the crucial financial support they need to graduate from school with fewer (or no) loans and make the music that touches and defines our lives.
The inaugural scholarship recipient, David Ghesser (pictured above with David Leaf and Brian Wilson), is a gifted School of Music student and composition major.
“I’ve really loved Brian’s music for a long time — he’s one of my musical inspirations,” Ghesser said. “He’s an incredible genius in how he writes melodies and produces his songs. When I was told that I was going to be the first recipient of the Brian Wilson scholarship, I was honored to have my name associated with his.”
Please join David and UCLA in honoring Brian and Eva and supporting young musicians!
