Additional nasal swab sample for one surfer that will be used to quantify ARGs (antibiotic resistance genes).
One-time nasal swabbing of a surfer to see if they are colonized by MRSA.
This gift will allow us to add another surfer to the study. We will screen them one-time for MRSA and ARGs.
This would allow us to screen the same surfer twice for MRSA and ARGs.
This donation will allow us to screen the same surfer for MRSA and ARGs three times over the 2018-2019 winter surf season.
We would also like to screen all of our surfers for VRE. To do so, we need to purchase special agar, petri- dishes, and antibiotic supplements.
With this generous donation, we could screen for one more antibiotic resistance gene in both nasal and marine water samples.
