LA Hacks 2019: Taking Creativity and Innovation to New Heights
We are LA Hacks, a team of passionate students at UCLA and our mission is to organize one of the largest collegiate hackathons in the nation here in Pauley Pavilion, where students of all backgrounds and experience levels are challenged to design original solutions to a variety of global issues. Our goal is to continue to encourage the thriving STEM culture and accessible opportunities for all students to learn new skills and technologies, collaborating with industry leaders and innovative companies to develop impactful, cutting-edge products. Our theme for 2019 is “Expanding Horizons: Learn, Create, Innovate” with three tracks: Safe Cities, Sustainable Living, and Moonshots (start-up ideas). This 36-hour event you’ll help bring to life welcomes over 1,000 attendees who will have access to company panelists, technical workshops, industry leaders, and more!
We Need You!
However, hosting this event would be impossible without your help! As a completely free, student-run hackathon, we rely entirely on outside funding to fulfill our basic logistical costs.
With your support, we will be able to reach our funding milestone of $10,000, which will cover the cost of over 75 attendees. This means that 75 students will have food for the entire weekend, as well as access to wellness items, transportation, hardware, speakers, A/V equipment, and more! Most importantly, your contribution in meeting this goal would give 75 attendees the opportunity to make an impact that lasts far beyond 36 hours!
No donation is too small! Even with $5, we can provide an attendee with our 2019 LA Hacks t-shirt to commemorate the experience of a lifetime!
What's possible through LA Hacks?
LA Hacks has welcomed many leaders and role models in tech, from Evan Spiegal (CEO, Snapchat) and Sean Rad (CEO, Tinder) to 8 time gold medalist, Apolo Ohno. With industry mentors, technical workshops, and founder panels galore, we hope you will work with us to inspire our attendees and broaden the scope of technology.

Drip (2016)
A smart shower meter that is easy to install, simple to use, and helps you save water by monitoring water flow through your shower and beaming the data to your smartphone!
Mind Controlled Mercedes (2015)
Using 3D printing to print gear and other components in place of a steering wheel, this team enabled signals from the EEG, which are linked with different "thoughts" like turn left and are binded to Gcode commands, to move the motor that moves the gear and ultimately turns the car.
