To my friends, family and fellow change-makers,

I am a second year MPH student studying Health Policy and Management at UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health. From a young age, I have enjoyed playing sports and engaging in fitness-oriented activities. My father, who was an Indian national level athlete, might be responsible for this encouraging this perspective within my family. Sports are and will always be an important part of my life as they have taught me discipline, teamwork, persistence, and focus. Every workout or sports session is a small win for me as I get to do something I love and improve at it. This gives me peace of mind.

I am excited to share with you that I will be running the Big LA 5 K this year! This event will be very important for me as it will help raise money for an important cause.  I want my passion for running to create a greater impact than just bolstering my fitness levels. I want to create a ripple effect that helps to enable others with the same mindset to benefit from my activity. The money I raise to go towards the summer fieldwork opportunities for my peers in the first year of the MPH program.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to do my summer fieldwork within the Strategic Projects department at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. This experience was not only an eye-opener about how the South Bay system excels on a daily basis but it was also an unforgettable opportunity to gain experiential knowledge about how to make an impact as a student/intern and future public health leader. I had the chance to put into practice a lot of the theory and skills I had learned at the Fielding School at the hospital and its neighboring satellite clinics. It was fantastic!

I am raising money for fellowships for summer fieldwork so that my peers can gain access to experiences as life-changing as mine. I hope that one day they can also say they were able to make an impact within the healthcare ecosystem that they can be proud of!

Thank you for your support!
