Who I am:
My name is Arnold Shir and I am a first year Masters of Public Health student in the Community Health Sciences department running the Los Angeles 5k. I have an interest in using physical activity to improve health outcomes in underserved communities, while gaining a better understanding of how social factors impact the health of a population.
Why am I running the 5K:
Running this 5K is important to me because it will provide an opportunity to fundraise fellowship money for my cohort's summer fieldwork experiences. While the work we do is important to helping people live longer, healthier lives, sometimes our opportunities are unfunded. This is why I am participating in the Los Angeles 5K--to raise money so my cohort and I can have impactful summer internships that help us work towards health equity. Regardless of our specific areas of interest, my classmates and I aim to provide better services and hold a better understanding of how we can improve our health.
What your donation means to me:
Your donation would be of tremendous help in providing funding for my cohort and me. With the money we raise, my classmates and I will be able to garner real world experience that will have a large impact on the health of the general public. By donating, you not only provide my classmates and I with a wonderful experience, you also are helping the organizations and communities that we will work for; the services that we provide could make a largest difference to those in most need. Thank you again for taking the time to support me and my cohort's endeavors!
