As a recent alumna from the UCLA FSPH Department of Health Policy and Management, I am thrilled to run once again with Team FSPH! For a third time, I will help raise funds toward valuable summer fieldwork fellowships for public health students. Summer fieldwork is an important opportunity to turn classroom learning into real-world experience to improve public health here in California, across the nation, and around the world.

My own summer training experience with Healthcare Technical Services, Inc. introduced me to a side of the healthcare industry I had yet to discover: high-level project management for new hospital openings and healthcare facilities expansion. I served as a Project Coordinator for transition planning activities at new academic hospitals, including UCSD, Stony Brook University, and University of Chicago - Medicine. In this role, I applied lessons from coursework in quality improvement, project management, and health services organization and management theory to help prepare new facilities for patient care. My rewarding experience with HTS prompted me to continue exploring other sectors of the healthcare industry, and helped prepare me for my current role as Quality Improvement Specialist at Health Net. Now, I would like to help other FSPH students in obtaining valuable experiences through their own summer field studies.

Your investment in summer internships will help support invaluable work in communities and train a new generation of public health leaders. Thank you for your support!
