Hello! As many of you know I am the Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs for the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. In my role, I get to work with our inspiring FSPH students and alumni doing incredible public health work in our community. I am excited to join Team FSPH supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals! I am honored to be a part of a team that is committed to providing firsthand experience to students, allowing them to apply classroom learning into real-world experience and to improve public health locally, domestically, and internationally.
The money raised here will go towards summer field work which allows students to grow within the field academically and professionally. Our students are required to conduct 400 hours of summer fieldwork to earn a master’s degree in public health. Fieldwork enables students to translate classroom learning into real-world experience, while benefiting communities in need. Yet many public health organizations that can provide impactful training experiences cannot afford to pay student interns and most students cannot afford to spend a summer working on public health issues without financial support. We are raising money to provide fellowships (stipends) for summer fieldwork so that students can afford to undertake meaningful training opportunities, and in doing so; benefit communities in need near and far.
