Happy February and early Valentine’s Day!

Thanks to your support, we were able to put on a very successful CACN 2019. We had the highest attendance counts in our 30-year history and received amazing feedback on our show. None of this would have been possible without your support.

With the new year comes a new production. CACN 2020 is now in the works and we’re looking to build off of our success from last year. This includes increasing our attendance counts, expanding promotion, building new sets and getting more props. We’re off to a great start, but for us to fully bring our production to life, we are again asking for your help! Our 2020 Spark campaign is about to launch and we would greatly appreciate any donation that you can give. Funds raised will go towards facilities, sets, props, and advertising costs. Hi everyone!

Thank you to all who have helped Chinese American Culture Night 2019 surpass our original goal of $13,000! We are so excited to have reached our goal and we couldn't have done it without you. We appreciate all of our 195+ donors who have helped us raise over $15,500! We still have 2 more days left in our campaign and now we are striving to meet our stretch goal of $16,500!

With all of your support, we are able to sustain our annual Chinese American Culture Night. The extra funds that we hope to raise with our stretch goal will allow us to cover more facility, production, and marketing costs for CACN! Thank you for allowing us to have the necessary funds to showcase a transformative student-run production that talks about important topics within the Chinese American community.

Hi everyone!  

As of today, March 10, we have only 4 DAYS left for our Spark campaign! We have received over 140 donations and have hit $10,000! We sincerely appreciate all that has helped make this happen.

For the last 4 days still left to donate, we ask you to please help share our cause through word of mouth, email, and social media to help us get the last 29% of our goal! We are still 29% short of our goal of $13,000! This total amount will help cover the expense of having our show that highlights the importance of mental health at the beautiful Royce Hall, as will as the production cost including sets and props! The shirt design features the show title, Echoes of Silence, on a blue t-shirt. The hat design features a black hat with a red dragon on the front, and a small "CACN" on the back. Both perks are still available: a shirt is given as a thank-you for a $35 donation, and a hat is awarded for a $30 donation! Hope you are all excited to receive your perks!

Thank you so much for supporting the 30th Annual Chinese American Culture Night 2019: Echoes of Silence. There are only 17 days left in our campaign, and we would love if you could please share our cause with your friends and family! 

We would like to share more about the story behind this year’s theme -- mental health. This year’s CACN strives to voice the importance of mental health discussion within the Asian American community. The main character, Kevin, is an Asian-American college student struggling with his mental health as he navigates the sticky and intersectional conversation about mental health with his parents. It is imperative to advocate for these little talked about issues as it is something that should not be ignored. 

The amount of college students seeking mental health treatment has seen an increase from 1 in 10 in the late 1980s to 1 in 3 in 2017. There has been a significant growth in the amount of stress, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and cases of recorded depression within the college age group of 18-24. With these statistics, many question and seek to find the cause of the college student mental health crisis. Through his journal, Dr. Henriques mentions that this observation could stem from the rapid evolution of technology, an existential confusion of the individual, economic and financial pressures, problematic attitudes and stigmas towards mental health issues, and many other factors.
