We Support U

Andy Greene, Living Kidney Donor and Retired Administrative Supervisor for LA County Probation Department

As a kidney donor, I have changed 2 lives forever…my recipient has a healthy, full life again and my life has been enriched in ways I never anticipated! Because of this experience, I want to continue to help by bringing awareness to other possible donors so many more lives can be changed!

Ariana Apopei, UCLA Bruin Beans Health Club Director

I am a second year Spanish major at UCLA and I have been involved with the Bruin Beans Health Club since my first quarter at UCLA. I have had many wonderful learning experiences that have helped me grow as a person throughout my time here, especially as a freshman lucky enough to have such opportunities. What grabbed my attention about Dr. Rastogi's efforts is his focus on raising awareness for health issues that are often overlooked, such as Farby's disease--something I am interested in doing in my future healthcare career. As a member of the LGBTQ community, I am eager to do my part in bridging the gap between the medical and LGBTQ community through outreach and raising awareness of  issues that both groups may not be aware of. Without such great examples of drive and passion around me I may not have realized how to bring together my many interests into something that I truly love.

Christina Amoroso and Trey Page, LGBTQ Healthcare Community Members

Around 120,000 Americans are waiting for an organ transplant daily. Members of the LGBTQ community can save a life now by becoming living kidney donor. Building awareness around living kidney organ donation in the LGBTQ community will help dispel the myth or assumption that LGBTQ people can’t be living donors!

HOPE Act: OPTN Policy

The UCLA CORE Kidney Program aims to impact the surrounding communities to achieve excellence in health by fighting kidney disease through increasing awareness of the needs of our community through Clinical Excellence, Outreach, Research and Education (CORE).

Every dollar counts: due to the incredible generosity of donors at last year's Kidney Fair, we were able to fund future educational health fairs, and free educational monthly seminars that provide the support, education and resources for those who have kidney disease or want to learn more about them.

Learn more and check out the UCLA CORE Kidney website here!

Gifts are managed and invested in accordance with UCLA’s endowment investment policies. The total return earned in excess of the amount approved annually for payout will be retained in the endowment principal to protect from the effects of inflation and to allow for growth. At the Chancellor’s discretion, when the payout is not needed for purposes of the fund, the return of payout may be added to the endowment fund principal. In the event the fund does not reach endowment minimum; or the program ceases to exist at UCLA, proceeds from the fund will be utilized in an area and manner as closely related as possible to the original intent and purposes for which the fund was established.
