Jordan's Bat Mitzvah Fundraiser

Thank you for your support! This fundraising page has closed, but you can still contribute to Jordan's cause here!

For my Bat Mitzvah project, I decided to raise and donate money to the UCLA CARES treatment facility for children who suffer from childhood anxiety. The reason I chose this facility is because I have battled an anxiety disorder from a very young age and understand what it feels like to suffer from a mental condition. For a long time, it prevented me from doing many things. I had trouble going to school, birthday parties, or even watching a movie in a theatre.

It’s very hard for people to understand how someone with anxiety struggles because it’s not something you can actually see. Therefore, I really wanted to help out children of all ages who have been struggling like I have. I would like these donations to go towards treatment and different programs to help kids feel happier, and not so scared or burdened in their lives. While I have struggled with this for many years, I have made a lot of progress and have conquered so many of my fears. I want people to know that it is absolutely possible to live a healthy and happy life, but it does take a lot of work.

I am very lucky to have a big support system of mental health experts, teachers, and family. It really makes such a difference to know that I have so many people surrounding me that I can trust and rely on. I really hope you understand my cause and will help me reach my goal by donating any money you can.

The UCLA Center for Child Anxiety Resilience Education and Support (CARES) is an innovative center dedicated to supporting the development of resilient, emotionally healthy children and families.

The Center is also focused on training, research, and community outreach to help clinicians, researchers, school staff, and parents recognize the early signs of childhood anxiety and support families in accessing resources to build family strengths and resilience.

Led by members of UCLA’s world-renowned mental health programs, the UCLA CARES Center is developing new and improved strategies to help children, parents, clinicians, and community members better engage with one another to reduce the burden of childhood anxiety.
