WHAT IS THE ABC?
The Achievement, Behavior, Cognition (ABC) Child Programs in the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA provide psychiatric services to children ages 6-12 and their families. Dedicated to promoting emotional and behavioral health, the integrated programs are offered through the Partial Hospitalization Program and the Intensive Outpatient Program.
ABC’S GOAL
ABC’s goal is to be at the forefront of care for a complex group of children who often have exhausted all other treatment options in the community.
ABC’S FAST FACTS

MORE ABOUT THE ABC
Based on the most current, evidence-based clinical practices, the ABC Child Programs incorporate positive approaches to patient care to help patients and their families address and overcome the many emotional challenges faced by many children today, including diagnoses of:
ABC’S APPROACH
Patients receive state-of-the-art care based on clinical findings from an experienced, multidisciplinary team of child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and occupational/recreational therapists who work together to promote recovery and long-term mental health. Minimizing the stress often experienced from seeing multiple practitioners, the program creates an individualized, one-stop therapeutic environment.
UNIQUE ASPECTS OF ABC PROGRAMS
ABC TRAINING
This multi-pronged approach to treatment provides a one-of-a-kind platform for training the next generation of healthcare providers. The ABC team provides an outstanding education to trainees in psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, and social work as they learn how to maximize outcomes in integrated settings, such as at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. This ensures that the program capitalizes on its strengths in the short-term care of current patients, and over the long-term via the dissemination of best practice healthcare methods.
