Bump Them to Success! OC Bruins Alumni Scholarships Campaign

The UCLA Alumni Orange County Network is a volunteer group of alumni and UCLA supporters who work with the UCLA Alumni Association on campus to support UCLA. We organize various activities and opportunities for alumni to gather, reconnect and support the university, from hikes to concerts to UCLA Athletic events. We are also dedicated to fundraising and supporting our Alumni Scholarships for Orange County students.

The OC Bruins are committed to provide support and opportunities to further the goals of our future UCLA scholars and community leaders. By taking some of the financial pressure off of students and families, we can enable student success in college by helping deserving students allocate more time towards studying, learning, and service.

Join us in supporting the next generation of leaders with a gift to the OC Bruins Scholarship fund!

By contributing to the OC Bruins Spark Campaign, your funds will directly support merit-based scholarships to freshmen or transfer students who reside in Orange County. Due to budget cuts,  UCLA’s tuition has risen by 72% in the last 5 years.  68% of students eliminate a college due to cost. In order to remain competitive, UCLA needs to offer more lucrative scholarship packages to our talented students. A scholarship of $5,000 can influence a student’s decision to choose UCLA.

Typical financial aid packages leave a significant gap in funding, resulting in students taking out loans and part time jobs that detract from their studies and ability to focus on their professional development. We can do more for our students through scholarship support. Your gift to the Undergraduate Scholarships fund helps attract some of the most promising students to attend UCLA.

When awarded a UCLA Orange County Scholarship, our scholars can pursue aspirations better aligned with their personal passions and the evolving needs of an ever-changing society. By helping students to cover the cost of room, board, supplies, and other course related costs, you're helping to reduce the amount of money students need to borrow and work off during school. This allows students to explore their passions both inside and outside of the classroom, such as:

  • Clubs

  • Extracurricular activities

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • Internships

  • Research projects

  • Study abroad

  • Service-Learning projects

Scholarships also instill a greater sense of pride, belonging, and motivation to make it through higher education. Your donation to the OC Bruins Endowed Scholarship Fund is a gift that keeps on giving for years to come.

Vital to the future of higher education, scholarship endowments sustain the University even through tumultuous economic climates, serving as a permanent way to award scholarships in order to recruit gifted students.

Giving to Alumni Scholarships program helps us recruit the best students in the nation and cultivate them to become future leaders, game-changers, and make them immediately feel connected to the university.

Since 1936, thousands of UCLA students, loyal alumni, dedicated donors and enthusiastic volunteers have come together to create a program the personal impact of which exceeds its substantial monetary value. We need YOU to help us reach our goal of 100 donors to celebrate UCLA’s 100th birthday! Join us in making any level gift to take us one step closer to reaching and surpassing our goal!

Because by strengthening our foundation, we can raise the ceiling!

*Gifts are managed and invested in accordance with UCLA’s endowment investment policies. The total return earned in excess of the amount approved annually for payout will be retained in the endowment principal to protect from the effects of inflation and to allow for growth. At the Chancellor’s discretion, when the payout is not needed for purposes of the fund, the return of payout may be added to the endowment fund principal. In the event the fund does not reach endowment minimum; or the program ceases to exist at UCLA, proceeds from the fund will be utilized in an area and manner as closely related as possible to the original intent and purposes for which the fund was established.*
