Sling Health @ UCLA: Solving Real-World Medical Problems

Sling Health at UCLA is the first and only medical student-run organization at the David Geffen School of Medicine that equips students with the resources, training, and mentorship required to develop innovative solutions for real-world healthcare problems. We form multidisciplinary teams of students from across UCLA with medical, business, engineering and legal expertise to tackle inherently multifaceted medical challenges. Our teams then participate in a year-long curriculum that teaches skills including problem identification, prototype development, product iteration, and business development.  We've grown exponentially, and in only two short years built up a portfolio that now encompasses 8 active projects and a cohort of over 50 students developing innovative products for the medical field.

Through our entirely student-led, low-cost, scalable training platform, we are working with over 50 students and developing multiple products currently in use in the clinic. However, due to funding constraints, we are limited in our ability to take on additional potential projects with greater initial investment requirements. With your help, we can continue to support our current teams and bring on new students/projects to make an even larger impact in the healthcare system!

Sling Members working alongside health care providers to develop a low-cost communication tool for non-English speaking patients

IndiviHealth: Developing personalized medical devices for stroke rehabilitation

CareCoordian: Creating a health information organizational tool for emergent situations

Atria Connect: Enabling long term change in developing nations through training of local physicians

Machine Learning in Health: Using machine learning to develop algorithms for individualized diagnostic and treatment plans

Parousia: Designing a novel menstrual cup device as an ecofriendly way for mothers to address heavier flow and urinary incontinence

With many additional projects also currently under development!

Training local Haitian physicians in ultrasound imaging and empowering them with the knowledge and skills to better care for their communities

Every gift counts, and each dollar will make an impact as we train students from across UCLA! Your donation will facilitate innovation in the medical field, and we are excited to use your support to develop tools for patients and physicians in Los Angeles and beyond!
