Founded in 2004, UCLA Dragon Boat is a student-run competitive club sports team. Our team prides itself in building a diverse and tight-knit community of students who are committed and embody the spirit of competition and excellence. We are 50 paddlers strong, making up two race crews: Blue and Gold.
As a student-run team, funds are always an issue for our paddlers. From registration fees and accommodation on race day, to transport and equipment for our weekly practices, majority of the team's operating expenses come out of our students' own pockets. Your support will help the team pursue our passion for paddling without the financial stress.
Our initial goal was to raise money for our upcoming races in the 2020 Arizona Dragon Boat Festival and Long Beach Spring Race this spring. At these races, we will be competing against fellow dragon boat teams from all around the nation. Besides the hefty race registration fees, food, transportation and other expenses also make up significant costs to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our network, we reached our initial goal of $1,500 in the first day, and our first stretch goal of $2,500 in the next! We have further boosted our goal by an additional $1,500. This will help cover our practice expenses during the school year. Every weekend, our team heads down to Long Beach for practice, where we give it our all in the lead-up to our races. As a student-run team, many expenses fall on our paddlers, including maintaining our equipment and transportation to and fro practice.
This is where YOU come in! By donating to our campaign, you will not only be supporting the expenses for our team to race at this festival, but also contributing to the long tradition and larger community of Dragon Boat.
All donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for your kind support! Go Bruins!
