We are the UCLA Club Triathlon team. A a co-ed group of students who rise to the challenge of swimming, biking, and running - one after another in one single race! Since 2002, we have been able to create a network of support among teammates, dedicated alumni, and terrific coaches. Because of this, the connections we make extend far beyond the Pacific Coast Highway, the Student Activities Center pool, or Drake Stadium and last long after graduation. We've grown in numbers, ambition and competitiveness all the way to the national level. We train extensively but we also maintain a burrito-filled, lighthearted, and friendly atmosphere. In recent years, our combined team has placed second and third in the nation!
With your donations we will be able to conquer another successful participation at the Collegiate National Championship by helping us to cover the costs of lodging, transportation, registration, and food!
Because there are so many elements like lodging, transportation and nutrition as well as so much gear to triathlon, competing at Nationals is very expensive. This is why we’re asking for YOUR help. We greatly appreciate your donation because it will allow us to cover our Nationals costs, from race nutrition, registration, and getting us and our bikes to Arizona. Nationals is a tremendous race experience and your generosity allows us to perform at our best abilities.
Triathlon is an expensive sport and as students the cost adds up quickly. Your donation can help alleviate the stress and financial worry of raising enough money to go to Nationals. Whether your donation provides a burrito, help with registration, bike transportation, or the full cost to compete, you will be making a difference. With your help and generosity, you can provide the difference for many athletes to be able to attend Nationals that otherwise may not have been able to compete. So let’s race well and have some fun at Nationals this year!
From all of us at UCLA Club Triathlon, we would like to thank you in advance for your support and for helping us to realize our racing goals this year!
The UCLA Club Triathlon team is shooting to compete at the Collegiate National Championship, which is made up of a 1500 meter swim, 40k bike ride, and 10k run on April 4th 2020! From January to April every year, we prepare for nationals by competing in races around California. What makes triathlon so challenging is the time it takes to train for all three components of one race! As student athletes, we have 12 practices each week starting in the Fall, which let us stay on top of our class schedules, as well as our desired training volume. Almost all of us join the team coming from swimming OR running backgrounds with no triathlon experience. Although we are all new to triathlon, we realize that the sport is a lifestyle and we are excited to continue racing and training for triathlons beyond our time at UCLA.
For now, we have our eyes set on racing as fast as we can at this year’s Collegiate Club National Championships in Tempe, Arizona!
