The Crisis: A Global Pandemic Is Here
On March 11, The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 epidemic a pandemic. COVID-19 is one of the most urgent public health crises in generations; we must act now to understand pathogenesis, infection, transmission, containment, and mitigation to halt this deadly virus.
Los Angeles is the frontline of community transmission. Scientists and medical and public-health professionals have been preparing for such a pandemic and are working together creatively to tackle this novel pathogen, learn from it, beat it, and prevent new outbreaks in Los Angeles and around the world.
