At UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, our students learn how to change the world: one person, one project, one place at a time. With your support, you can provide the resources to help Luskin students through this challenging time, so they can continue advancing solutions to society’s most pressing problems.
Gifts to the fund will be graciously matched by a Luskin board member, who will donate up to $10,000: a dollar-to-dollar match up to $5,000, plus an additional $5,000 if we are able to get at least 100 donors.
Donations of any size made to the Luskin School Student Emergency Fund will:
- Provide emergency support to Luskin students who are experiencing financial hardship that adversely affects their success at UCLA.
- Allow students technology updates to succeed in learning remotely, including laptops and access to stronger internet connection.
Letter from Dean Gary M. Segura
Dear Luskin Community,
I hope that you are healthy and faring well in these trying times. Now more than ever, strength of community is imperative as we brave through this unique period of history. We look to our alumni, parents, staff, and friends to come together, for both keeping camaraderie for each other and to support our students.
In these days ahead, Luskin continues to work to provide the best experiences possible to our students. I’d like to bring you up to date with regard to how we are coping with the new reality of COVID-19.
UCLA suspended all events through the academic year. Given there are no in-person classes, the students were instructed not to return from spring break, since the dormitory environment is not conducive to health and transmission avoidance. That said, students with no place to go, including international students who may not be able to return if they leave the US, are able to remain in their dorms. And residential life staff has made preparations to isolate any remaining students who become ill.
Faculty of UCLA Luskin continue to deliver our outstanding programs at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels, albeit with modifications; providing spring courses for remote delivery, and our spring quarter is underway. Since there will be no in-person graduation ceremony this year, we are working on options for an alternate celebration and potentially a delayed opportunity. I am grateful to all of Luskin faculty and staff as they persevere to provide students the best experience possible amidst this crisis.
Stories of our resilient alumni and community continue to surface, as we work together to get through this time - we want you to still feel engaged, and encourage you to reach out to Laura Scarano, Associate Director of Development, at email@example.com to discover more ways to be involved.
