I have been volunteering with UCLA Health for a little over a year now, participating in both the Patient Transport Program and the Creative Arts Program. Since the start of Covid-19, all volunteer activities at the hospital have been suspended. However, I still wanted to find a way to make a change from the comfort of my home. I stumbled upon the Mattel Youth Ambassador Program and decided that it would be the perfect program for me to donate my time to, not only because I would be presented with amazing opportunities to explore the medical field, but also and more importantly because I would be able to give back to my community and the children who are required to remain in isolation as a result of Covid-19.
Furthermore, I want to do everything possible to provide the patients with a better experience, as I personally knew someone who spent countless hours under the care of the employees at the Mattel Children's Hospital. I know that the employees at the Mattel Children's Hospital do everything in their power to create an exceptional environment for the patients. The Mattel Youth Ambassadors contribute to the hospital by participating in service projects and raising money that is used towards enhancing the experience of the patients throughout their stay.
My goal as a Mattel Youth Ambassador is to raise $2,500. This money will be used towards buying materials and supplies, and providing opportunities for the children that makes their stay at the hospital as enjoyable as possible.
