Hello everyone, my name is Makaila Cheng and I am a junior at Arcadia High School. Currently, I have committed being a UCLA Mattel Youth Ambassador and raising funds towards the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Last year, I witnessed many of my close ones suffer mentally or physically from the pandemic. Especially my cousin who is a person of autism, he suffered feeling isolated from the rest of the world. Luckily my cousin had friends and family to support him through his tough time. Watching my cousin prosper and de-shell after our support, was truly inspiring. I knew other kids like my cousin would be suffering from the same effects of COVID-19.
I learned about the Mattel Youth Ambassador Program, and that it gives all of its proceeds to the children of the UCLA Mattel Hospital. I have created a fundraiser through UCLA Spark Page in hopes to raise most of my profit through this. Not only that, I have been playing tennis with kids for some money around my neighborhood. i hope to profit from that as well, so I can donate that money towards my fundraiser. Donating to this fundraiser will not only make the children at all UCLA Health Affiliations happy, but you too will feel the sense of content knowing that you donated to an amazing cause.
