Research shows that playing music to patients that has a certain meaning to them can have a positive effect. This is known as salient stimulus and as someone who appreciates music, I would like to contribute to such programs. When my cousin felt ill in the hospital, I noticed playing his favorite music made a difference in his mood and health.
UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital cares for the physical and emotional well-being of children, from newborns to young adults. UCLA's facilities are designed to serve the most critically ill children with sophisticated, compassionate care in an environment that is both welcoming and healing to children and their families.
Understanding that "children are not small adults," UCLA pays close attention to the social and emotional needs of hospitalized children and their families. When you support the Mattel Youth Ambassador program, your donation provides funds for...
- Art/activity kits
- Music therapy and programs for patients
- Birthday celebrations
- Holiday festivities for children
