Nurturing Hope

Hi, my name is Ashley Markatos and I am a junior at New West Charter. I have witnessed the positive impact that support and hope can bring to those experiencing a health crisis. In 2017, one of my immediate family members was diagnosed with late-stage gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. While watching him receive treatment at various hospitals and treatment centers, I learned the value of volunteers in getting him through this extraordinarily challenging time. I set out to immerse myself in a program that would allow me to give back and help support others. I found this opportunity with my recent acceptance to the Mattel Youth Ambassadors Program which was conceived by a high school cancer patient.

This program will enable me to participate in unique service projects designed to bring cheer to patients and express gratitude to hospital staff. To support these projects and other services offered at the Mattel Children's Hospital, I will be raising funds through my “Nurturing Hope” campaign. Any amount that you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will fund the following services:

    - Music Programs
    - Art and Activity Kits
    - Holiday Festivities
    - Hospital Birthday Celebrations
    - Patient Care Packages
    - Special Needs of Patients and their Families

I hope you will join me in my quest to provide support and hope to children at the Mattel Children's Hospital.
