Hello! My name is Ashley Kim, and I am in a volunteer program offered by UCLA Health known as Mattel Youth Ambassadors. I aim to reach the fundraising goal of at least $1250, to which all funds will be donated to the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. In addition, I will also be participating in a variety of other activities in further support.
Although exploring medical career options was a huge factor, I decided to apply for Mattel Youth Ambassadors because I resonated with the idea of improving the well-being of others. To me, the statement brings the idea of being able to see the relief and smiles of the patient and their family. It fueled my ambition to provide the smiles to which everyone was entitled.
Further encouraged by this thought, I came up with a fundraising idea that hoped to gift items that would attempt to alleviate the distresses people face in life and bring a smile. It was then that I decided to incorporate my interests in arts and crafts and baking.
Arts and Crafts Bakes is essentially a project divided into two separate businesses. One involves designing and decorating pens and retractable badge holders. The second is a bake sale that offers sweets such as cake pops, mini cookies, and mini cupcakes. All items mentioned above will be sold and raised as funds for the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital.
