Ever thought you wanted to see more college students involved in classical theater, or wanted to be involved yourself? Boy, have we got news for you!
The Shakespeare Company at UCLA (SCU) is an all-inclusive community of artists, reinvigorating the works of William Shakespeare and his contemporaries with thoughtful, accessible, well-constructed and daring productions. We typically put on three productions a year, with the 2016-17 season introducing a fourth, student-devised show, and are open to all majors and levels of experience.
SCU opens all performances to UCLA students and the general public, free of charge, and holds educational theater workshops, play readings, and social events open to anyone who has an interest in and passion for Shakespeare.
In order to sustain and expand the company's reach, and continue offering free performances, we are launching our first-ever Spark campaign! We rely on the generosity of donors like you, in turn using your kindness to improve the quality, quantity, and production value of our shows. By donating, you contribute to the ever-diversifying portfolio of student-run work, and have the chance to engage in any number of our fantastic perks!
No matter what, SCU will continue to provide quality engagement with The Bard, but with your help, we will persist with our mission to truly make all the world a stage.
The funds will go toward increasing the quality shows throughout our 2017 season. Expenses include:
Venue prices, a good venue can make for a great atmosphere and increase our technical capabilites
Buying props, costumes, and set pieces to immerse actors and audiences in the scene
Technical Equipment, light and sound capabilities allow directors to take their vision even farther
Workshops, we have many talented actors, and workshops to help them refine their skills increase show quality that much more

-Emilia: $250, a pizza lunch
-Viola: $500, VIP seats to our Winter and Spring shows
-Richard III: $1,000, you can take home a prop or costume from our show
-Hamlet: $2,500, you and a friend are invited to our cast dinner in March
-Shakespeare: $5,000, we will put on a private showing of "Othello" or "As You Like It" for you
