WHO ARE WE?
UCLA Men's Club Soccer is a competitive club team filled with spirited student-athletes, who continue their passion for soccer while also navigating their challenging academic schedules. We are a tight family with individuals who impatiently anticipate sharing fun and competitive practice sessions. Outside of soccer, we also enjoy each other’s company—whether that be a beach bonfire or a casual kickback at someone’s place. Most of all, we motivate each other to be the best version of ourselves and we love seeing each other succeed in all areas of life. We are fierce competitors traveling the Southern California region to play against other collegiate club teams. We strive to showcase our talents and tenacity on the national stage—traveling to the likes of Texas or Alabama—where we compete against the top club soccer programs around the country. Currently, we are the reigning champions of the NIRSA National Open Division.
As a student-run club, the majority of expenses—tournament fees, transportation, and equipment—are purchased out of pocket, with little help from UCLA. We are extremely lucky to have a close-knit community of alumni, families, and friends that continue to endlessly support the team and generously donate in order to relieve most of the club’s financial stress. Without the aid from our compassionate donors, our amazing achievement of winning the 2022 Open Division National Championship would not have been possible.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
Last year’s campaign was a huge success, greatly surpassing our goal of $5,000 and ultimately raising more than $10,000! Once again, we are beyond grateful for our supportive community and thankful to all who donated to us. This year, we look to mount a mighty title defense at the NIRSA National Championship in the fall of 2023 and we are on the verge of claiming back-to-back league titles. In order to have the best opportunity to fulfill these achievements, our goal for this year’s campaign is to raise $7,000. Any donation amount is very appreciated and extremely helpful to keep our mighty movement going! Thank you so much for your time!
RECAP OF 2022
In April 2022, the WCSA South League came down to the very wire. As a result of highly contested games, the team picked up a couple of ties, which left valuable points on the table and took destiny out of our own hands. However, shortly after a fun-packed, Spring Quarter Deltopia event, league leaders UC Santa Barbara suffered a crucial blow to CSU Northridge—losing 2-1 on the final day of league play. This ultimately solidified the Bruins as outright league champions of the Spring 2022 season.
Later that month, the league title gave the team a berth in the WSCA regional tournament, which was hosted in Irvine, California. At the end of pool play, the boys found themselves on top of their group, which included a smashing 4-0 victory over our crosstown rivals, USC. The hot form carried into elimination play, as the Bruins put on a defensive masterclass against a strong University of San Diego team, edging them 2-0 with an electric late-clinching goal by the one and only Ciaran Hernon. There was little downtime between the hard-fought semi-final and the highly awaited final clash against UC Davis, but the boys quickly gathered any bits of energy they could find and were up for the challenge. This seemingly battle of the titans ended in a thrashing 5-0 triumph for the Bruin Blue and Gold, with a Player of the Tournament performance from street legend “Tourney Trev” (Trevor Child) as well as timeless performances from the beloved class of ‘22. Their high standards and leadership throughout the year set the tone for the 2022-23 campaign, paving the way for the current returners.

Training kits optimize our practices, allowing us to separate into teams without any confusion and increases the professional look of our squad.
High quality soccer balls are essential to our sport and can be damaged or lost at any time. This donation would allow us to replace these and keep our practices running fluidly.
In order to get to our away games, we need to either rent buses or provide gas money which this donation would graciously cover.
Our national tournament is usually held in a different state, forcing us to fly to our destination. This donation helps cover costs that players would usually have to pay out-of-pocket.
The biggest tournament of the year! Our national reign is currently active, as we are 2022 Champions! This amount allows us to defend our title and keep it at UCLA!
As with every tournament and league game, there is a fee required to attend. A donation of this magnitude allows us to have a complete squad, play more games, and compete against club teams from all over the US!
