Who We Are
Being a Bruin Ranger isn’t like joining any other club, it's joining a family. Established in 1975 by a group of tenacious students, these women fought tooth and nail to cement themselves and their team as a force to be reckoned with across the US. Since 2005, we've been competing in the collegiate division of the Southern California Women's Rugby Union and are now a part of the D1 Pacific Desert Rugby Conference, playing against teams across southern California and Arizona. In 2024, our team competed at the Nationals 7s tournament representing the best of the west coast, taking home 5th place. This year we’re going to do it again but bigger, better, stronger, and faster. We aren’t going to back down until we bring 1st place back to our home field. But we can’t do this alone, we need your help and support to make this dream a reality.
Our Mission
Although we are a highly competitive team here at UCLA, the Women’s Rugby team is not funded by the university nor currently recognized by the NCAA. The UCLA Women’s Rugby team aspires to achieve official NCAA recognition in our future, being a part of the 40 teams that would be included once Women’s Rugby attains NCAA championship status. And once it does, you can bet on us to be ready. Each year our program grows and develops thanks to the dedication and hard work of our players but without the funding from these esteemed organizations, all sports dues and other expenses come out of players pockets. This is where our generous donors, like you, can help.
How YOU Can Help
With your charitable contribution, you can help us provide the necessary resources for our team to make it all possible. From water bottles and proper jerseys to tournament entry and referee compensation, every donation affords our players the opportunity to evolve and elevate at the highest level. A donation of even $5 could provide one of our ruggers with a game ready mouth guard, but a donation of $250 would accommodate several ruggers with lodging for away tournaments. Be that change today. A donation of $7 provides one mouthguard to a Bruin Ranger. Thank you for helping us keep our teeth where they belong.
A donation of $25 can buy us one rugby ball, which we need for every practice and game!
A donation of $71 would help cover our entry fee for one tournament, which is crucial for our team to gain valuable experience in rugby!
A donation of $83 would allow us to purchase enough gas to travel to an away tournament and back!
A donation of $135 would cover the cost of a league referee for a match, allowing us to host well-supervised home matches and tournaments!
A donation of $250 provides lodging for several players at an away tournament!
