For the thousands of heart failure patients that receive treatment at UCLA Reagan Medical Center, their often prolonged recovery can critically diminish their physical, mental and spiritual health.
Heal My HeART wants you to join our team to launch an art intervention program that allows patients – through art and creative pursuits – to keep them optimistic through their recovery.
To establish an art therapy program that allows hospitalized patients to express their emotions creatively ultimately relieving the mental strain putforth by Heart Failure.
To develop an art-based prevention program for Heart Disease that will ultimately decrease the Heart Failure burden.
Heal My HeART with Art is a collaboration between UCLA undergraduates and Marymount High School students that aims to improve the well being of Heart Failure patients at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center through providing a creative outlet.
It has been proven that art can help relieve the mental strain put forth by Heart Transplantation and Heart Disease.
Patients spend such long periods of time in the hospital due to their Heart Disease, and providing them with an opportunity to express their emotions creatively would be invaluable to their mental and physical health.
We hope that our project will serve as a model to other medical centers. It is in our vision to support future research that will advance Heart Failure knowledge and care for the benefit of future Heart Failure patients.
1. Donate, and help us buy art supplies for our patients! Your donations will go towards buying paint, paint brushes, colored pencils, sketchbooks, musical instruments and other supplies that will ultimately allow our patients to express themselves through a creative outlet. Your support will also allow us to begin our search for both visual and musical art therapists to help our patients express themselves creatively.
