Our Spark campaign has been so successful in raising the $5,000 that we need, we've decided to extend our goal! We've received such incredible support from all of our communities, our families, and our friends that we've decided to increase our goal by an extra $2000 so that we can purchase a laptop computer and hotspot to make our work on the streets of LA more efficient and effective. This means that we will be able to enter and retrieve real-time information into our secure database and access information that we need on-site for referrals and service-use tracking.
Please help us reach this second goal so we can end our campaign with the supplies AND equipment that we need to help our homeless clients in the streets of Los Angeles.
Thank you again to all of our donors; we are so grateful for your kindness and generosity. With your incredible support, we crushed our first fundraising goal and we are about to crush another one!
The Mobile Clinic Project at UCLA is a completely volunteer-based, student-run organization bringing together medical, public health, and undergraduate students to address the unmet needs of the homeless and underserved populations of Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
We strive to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for our patients through:
We run a weekly free clinic out of West Hollywood and a biweekly clinic in Santa Monica, bringing our no-cost services to as many patients as we can.
1. In West Hollywood, we see about 25 people per night for medical services, 10 for referrals to other medical or social services, and 35 for hygiene supplies and/or clothing.
2. In Santa Monica, we partner with the Venice Family Clinic (VFC) and the Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC) to provide services to more than 15 people for medical services, 8 for referrals, and 10 for hygiene supplies at each clinic.
Our organization is a collaborative effort between UCLA medical students, public health students, and dozens of undergraduates.
- Medical students get the chance to provide direct medical care under the supervision of an attending physician.
- Public health students train the undergraduates about various issues affecting the homeless and conduct needs assessments, as well as managing transportation and HIV testing for our clients.
- Undergraduate caseworkers have the most continuous interaction with our patients, sitting side-by-side with him or her for the duration of his or her time at clinic. These students are a crucial component of our organization's leadership, as they are largely responsible for running and maintaining the flow of clinic.
Above are some of the volunteer undergraduate, medical, and public health student officers of the Mobile Clinic.
We are seeking your help to support the Mobile Clinic Project at UCLA so we may continue providing these services to the homeless of Santa Monica and Los Angeles. At both our Santa Monica (OPCC-VFC) and West Hollywood clinics, we spend about $40 per client seen.
Throughout the whole year, we give more than:
Now we need your help. Your donation today is critical to funding clinic operations, specifically for purchasing medications and supplies that are vital to our clients. Our funding deficit could be completed with an extra $5,000. Just a $100 donation can provide care for close to 3 clients, so please DONATE NOW!!
Please share our campaign and cause with your family and friends and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
With your generosity, you can help make our two OPCC-VFC clinic medical student coordinators, Gianmarco and Will, very happy about being able to help even more clients!
The Mobile Clinic Project is currently featured in UCLA's national "We, the Optimists" campaign as the "We Respond" story. You can spot some of our volunteers in the campaign's video!
