The Daily Bruin is UCLA's entirely student run, independent newspaper. With a history as old as the university itself, The Bruin is dedicated to thoughtful and reliable coverage on every aspect of life at UCLA. Our student journalists specialize in arts, athletics, politics, academics and many more areas of interest on campus.
Without a journalism department at UCLA, The Bruin is the university’s only source of journalism education. Students learn from each other and consistently produce one of the country's top student papers.
Tucked in our coffee-stained office in Kerckhoff Hall, we are a dedicated group of students with a passion for telling stories and keeping UCLA informed. We spend most days writing, editing, designing and even sometimes playing with the office dog (Yes, we have a dog!)
Each year, the constant evolution of technology presents new and exciting challenges as we try and bring our newsroom into the digital age.
The Bruin is an institution of UCLA that continues to grow and evolve with each student body. But like most news outlets, we have outgrown the printed page.
With this campaign, we aim to maintain UCLA's award-winning quality of journalism for decades to come.
However, this will require top-of-the-line equipment for our more than 150 journalists to continue to cover the UCLA community and keep our paper at the forefront of digital college journalism.
Great journalism takes student dedication, but it also requires the tools to bring riveting news story to the front page. This is where your support can make a huge impact.
We’re asking for $10,000 to ensure that our journalists have the best resources to keep the campus informed.

The latest cameras and lenses will be an investment in the future success of our paper, empowering our photojournalists to produce expert quality photos and video – taking our paper to the next level.
Cutting edge computers and monitors will ensure that our designers have all the tools they need to make eye-catching designs that resonate with our community of readers.
