In 2015, the UCLA Bruin Resource Center's Students with Dependents program launched Little Bruin Wishes as a way for the UCLA community to anonymously give gifts to UCLA parenting students and their families who would otherwise struggle to fulfill their children's holiday wish lists. All donations to Students with Dependents & Little Bruin Wishes ensure that parenting UCLA students aren't forced to choose between budgeting for their education and providing holiday gifts for their Little Bruins, especially during trying times.
Parenting UCLA students of all faiths, cultures, and traditions who feels that they will not be able to give their children a happy holiday due to financial limitations are encouraged to apply to have their Little Bruin Wishes granted. Criteria to be selected as a Little Bruin Wishes family is based partly on need, so students are asked to give information regarding their needs.
Since 2015, the Students with Dependents Program has been able to grant the wishes of over 120 UCLA families. Last year alone, over 197 Little Bruins had their holiday wishes granted.
This year, we're leveraging the power of the UCLA Spark to try to grant the wishes of even more families. Our goal this year is to assist over 300 Little Bruins and their families by providing at least one gift per family member.
Due to lack of storage space, we strongly encourage donors to give directly to Students with Dependents using the above Give Now button. This allows the BRC staff to remain flexible in purchasing gifts for Little Bruin Wishes families. However, if you're an avid shopper and want to directly support an entire Bruin Family in addition to making your monetary donation, we will be distributing the anonymous Little Bruin Wish Lists after November 16th on the Students with Dependents website.
