My name is Dhannya and I am a second year MPH student in the Health Policy and Management department at FSPH. I had such a great time running in the marathon with Team FSPH last year that I wanted to do it again!
This year, I am especially excited to participate because, as a second-year student, I know first-hand the benefit of summer fieldwork. My summer project was with the Martin Luther King Outpatient Center where I assessed the quality of care delivered by the integrated health system at the Sickle Cell and Substance Use Disorder clinic. The experience was amazing! I learnt a lot about the reasons leading to lack of accessibility to care for the underserved population of LA County. I was very fortunate to receive funding to pursue my work at MLK. I was so thankful to have had that experience that I want to do my part to make sure that any Fielding student will have the ability to do fieldwork anywhere they want.
