Lou Paulette Din
Hello! My name is Paulette and I am a first year MPH student at UCLA as most of you know. What you probably don't know and might be surprised at is that I signed up to be part of UCLA Fielding School of Public Health's marathon team this year! I KNOW! AMAZING RIGHT?! I decided to go to graduate school to pursue a Masters in Public Health because I wanted to 1) learn more effective ways to communicate and create more awareness about a topic/issue, 2) make the necessary adjustments to my current channels of delivery regarding education and promotion, and 3) gain administrative skills to better coordinate, facilitate, and be efficient, effective, and a supportive leader. Physical activity has been a great stress reliever for me in graduate student (and in life in general) and I really do enjoy the outdoors so I thought "why not sign up?" and here we are! I wanted to join the team because I have never done this kind of thing before and having other people hold me accountable for training and motivating me in this process is a plus. The catch, other than training my butt off, is that I have to fundraise money. The money raised goes towards student fellowships for summer fieldwork, which I am doing this summer, to help train future public health leaders. This summer I hope to travel abroad for my summer internship to educate and implement programs regarding reproductive/sexual health. Any kind of financial contribution (and emotional support and advice) to the team would be beneficial and immensely appreciated. Thank you for the good juju and please try to make it to the LA marathon on Sunday, March 18 if you can!
