Our Team:

Hello, we are the 2022-2023 UCLA Women’s Club Water Polo Team! As a student-run organization, our team includes motivated leaders who contribute to our success both inside and outside of the pool. As we welcomed many new players this year, our team has grown significantly, now having a total of 75 women with a shared love for water polo. After the past year and a half of rebuilding our team post-COVID and competing in the Women's Club Water Polo Regional Tournament against schools from all over California, we are excited to see how far our team will make it this year. Our goal for the end of our season is to qualify for Nationals, which will be hosted at UCLA! We also aim to create a community of respect and friendship amongst our players, fostering a space for women to remain active while receiving an education. We can't wait to share our experiences during this upcoming season with you! 

Upcoming Events:

With the season officially starting this quarter, our team has already begun to compete across California! Over the weekend of February 3-5, our two travel teams competed at the UC Davis Tournament and returned home after winning a total of 6 out of 8 games! We will compete again soon at UCLA’s own aquatic center February 25th and 26th. Following just a few weeks later, we will conclude our regular season March 4-5 at the annual Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Tournament. Our Division Championship will be hosted on April 22-23 at USC, with the 2023 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship on Friday-Sunday, May 5-7, at…UCLA! Follow along with our team to receive updates on these tournaments and to cheer on this incredible group of women! 

Allocation of Funds:

With our increase in numbers, our team is also facing increased tournament and equipment costs. We will be entering two teams for tournaments in order to allow more playing time for all of our players. Consequently, our travel expenses must support the large number of girls that need to be transported to the tournament locations. We are also looking to replenish our equipment, including new balls and caps, in accommodation for all of our players. Lastly, and with great excitement, we are happy to announce that UCLA will be hosting the 2023 Women's Club Water Polo Nationals! While this is an incredible opportunity, it does come with increased costs and your support is crucial for allowing this to happen. 

How You Can Help:

Although we are a UCLA Club Sports team, the university does not provide any funding for our club. As a result, we depend on donations and internal funding to cover the costs of our tournament registration, travel expenses, and athletic equipment. These costs can add up to substantial amounts, and we do not want financial burden to prevent our team from competing or discourage players from joining our team. This is where we need your help! Your generous contributions allow us to support all of our team members in both the competitive and recreational realms of water polo. 

Thank you! Last year's donations helped to fund three season tournaments and one pre-season tournament. In addition, we were able to purchase new balls and reduce individual club dues. Your generosity will continue to give these women the opportunity to play a sport they love and create life-long memories!
