The Solid Gold Sound of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band is a 260-piece ensemble that performs at home UCLA Football games and at a variety of other collegiate sports events, band festivals, and private gigs of national and international scope. This spirited group of student musicians keeps the energy high with rock and pop hits, 8-Claps, and UCLA traditions. When the halftime whistle blows, the Bruin Marching Band rolls onto the field to entertain the audience with a smooth, symphonic fusion of sound, movement, and color. No one does it better than the Solid Gold Sound of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band.
The band is composed entirely of students majoring in a variety of areas such as chemical engineering, music education, biology, communication, and more. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and include first-generation and transfer students.
Band members dedicate around 20 hours a week to rehearsals and performances, all on top of the normal academic and extracurricular rigors of attending the world's #1 public research university.
As the band and our reputation continue to grow, so do the costs to run this prestigious program. The UCLA Bruin Marching Band is committed to ensuring that playing with the band is accessible to anyone who qualifies to join.
With the exception of uniform shoes, there is absolutely no cost to students to become members of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band.
That's why for the first time ever, the students of the Solid Gold Sound are launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise $100,000 in honor of UCLA's Centennial Celebration.
The UCLA Bruin Marching Band's annual budget continues to stretch year after year, even with the funds we receive from the University, generous donors, and alumni. Your donation today would support the growing costs of tomorrow and make the marching band experience for our members and fans even better than before.

*Gifts are managed and invested in accordance with UCLA’s endowment investment policies. The total return earned in excess of the amount approved annually for payout will be retained in the endowment principal to protect from the effects of inflation and to allow for growth. At the Chancellor’s discretion, when the payout is not needed for purposes of the fund, the return of payout may be added to the endowment fund principal. In the event the fund does not reach endowment minimum; or the program ceases to exist at UCLA, proceeds from the fund will be utilized in an area and manner as closely related as possible to the original intent and purposes for which the fund was established.*
UCLA Band members pull together their look with signature white gloves, which cost about $8 a pair. As a thank you for your gift, you'll get a special video of an 8-clap from the Band that's JUST for donors.
$21 buys a band member's "Centennial Year" Band baseball cap that they can wear to keep the sun out of their eyes during outdoor events/performances! As a thank you, we'll send you a video of the band performing in full Centennial gear.
At UCLA basketball games in Pauley Pavilion, The Band wears custom polo shirts which allow them to play in style. These cost roughly $27, so to thank you for your gift, you'll get a shout out on the UCLA Bruin Marching Band Facebook page!
Donations of $100 in honor of the UCLA Centennial are a great way to show your support for The Band as well as your Bruin Pride! For your donation we'll send you a special UCLA Bruin Marching Band 'wallpaper' for your phone!
Your donation of $240 helps cover the extra costs of hosting UCLA students for band camp before the quarter starts. As a way of thanking you, we will give you a UCLA Bruin Marching Band sticker so you can showcase your Bruin pride.
The UCLA Bruin Marching Band takes the field and hits the road in style, but that doesn't come cheap, with the total uniform cost being around $495. As a way of thanking you, we will send you a video of a song dedicated just to you + a UCLA Bruin Marching Band sticker. (tax deductible gift of $494)
The Bruins may not always win, but The Band outperforms our rivals every time. $800.72 sends four band members to the Bay Area for our annual trip to either Cal or Stanford! As a thank you for your gift, we'll be sending you a UCLA Bruin Marching Band hat. (a tax deductible gift of $789)

With 266+ hungry mouths to feed, The Band racks up lunch costs quickly. $2926 buys the band lunch during a home football game. As a way of thanking you for your donation, we will give you a UCLA Bruin Marching Band shirt, hat, and sticker. (a tax deductible gift of $2,908)
Although our student musicians love their instruments, sometimes they break after years of use and $4,808 pays for an entire year's worth of costs to repair and replace things. So, for your generous gift, we'll reward you by giving you a drum head, signed by every member of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band, a shirt, a hat, and a sticker. (a tax deductible gift of $4,787)
$6,810 is the cost of transportation to our home games! No other band in the country has to PAY close to 7 Grand just to get to their HOME STADIUM! For $6810 you can help the band get to the Rose Bowl for a home football game! To thank you for your incredible gift, you'll get to have lunch with Kevin, the Director of the Band, a shirt, a hat, and a sticker. (a tax deductible gift of $6,772)
$11,036.76 pays for the band to rent its equipment truck to haul instruments to and from home football games at the Rose Bowl for a whole season!
