On March 5th, Hugs in a Blanket donated 40 blankets to UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital! The staff at the Chase Child Life program loved our blankets and we hope that the patients will too. This is the first time we've donated to UCLA Children's and we look forward to donating to them again in the future. Thank you so much for all your support, kindness, and generosity. We couldn't have done this without you!
On December 19, Hugs in a Blanket went to the William J. Pete Knight Veterans Home to hand out our fleece tied blankets to the veterans! Each of the blankets was wrapped with ribbon and included our hand-written thank you cards. As the veterans entered the dining hall for lunch, they had the opportunity to choose from the array of blankets. To be able to interact with the veterans, see the excitement when they chose their blanket, and receive comments of gratitude, was beyond what we expected. It was so touching to the club members in attendance. During the event, we spoke with Mr. Lawrence Hawkins, who is one of the center coordinators. He shared with us the amazing history behind some of the veterans. The veterans have served in WW2, Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf Wars. The eldest veteran served in WW2 and is 99 years old!
It was such an honor to give our blankets to these brave men and women who served our country. And we want to thank all of you for your support. We would not be able to do this without you and we are so grateful for such generous and kind friends and family like you. Thank you again for helping us give blankets to our veterans this holiday season!
Because of your support, Hugs in a Blanket was able to donate 40 blankets to Carlson Home-Hospital School! Carlson Home-Hospital is a school in the Los Angeles Unified School District whose teachers work with students who cannot attend a traditional campus due to medical or psychiatric illnesses in a variety of settings (homes, hospitals, etc.) We first donated to Carlson in 2016 and have now donated over 150 blankets to them! Thank you to Ms. Robertson, one of the teachers at Carlson, who took photos of the teachers with our blankets! Check out the photos at the end of this update!
We are also currently making and preparing the blankets for the 60 veterans living at the William J Pete Knight Veterans Home in Lancaster. We will be going out to the home on December 19th to personally hand out the blankets to them. We will be sending out more updates after our visit.
Thank you again for all your generosity and kindness. We couldn’t have done this without your support!

Thank you all so much for helping us reach our first stretch goal of $1700!! We are SO blessed to have such supportive family and friends like you. Your generosity has enabled us to make and donate 60 fleece blankets to the veterans living at the William J Pete Knight Veterans Home. Since we still have 3 days left in our campaign, we've decided to raise our goal to $2500 so we can begin fundraising for our next donation which will go to the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital! Please continue to share our campaign with your friends and family. And if you’re still thinking of donating, we would greatly appreciate your help in reaching our new goal!
