Hello!
We want to thank you again for your support of our fundraiser last fall! Our lab members have been working on development initiatives they will present at our Global Development Lab Project Showcase. With your support, we will be able to provide 2 grants to allow these projects to be implemented!
For anyone in the Los Angeles area, we would love for you to attend the event and see all the hard work and amazing projects each team has developed. The Project Showcase will take place on May 31st from 5:00 to 7:00pm in Carnesale Commons, Room Hermosa AB, on UCLA’s Campus.
We invite you to view the project presentations, provide feedback, and enjoy a night of networking with the local development community. Hors d'oeuvres will be served as well. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you the night of May 31st!

Thank you SO much for your generous contribution. Because of you, we were able to surpass our goal of $5,000! Students in GDL are already working incredibly hard to create sustainable, ethical solutions to development projects in the US and abroad. We are so excited for the opportunity to provide grants to at least 2 student groups at the end of the school year to implement their project.

This Giving Tuesday, we wanted to share how donations like yours can truly make a difference. Last year, Govind Srivastav, a 4th year International Development Studies major, won a $2,000 grant at our End of the Year Event to implement his development project. With the grant, he was able to set up an STI clinic at a homeless shelter in Cape Town, South Africa. By working with UC study abroad students, Govind created an internship program to provide funding and resources for these students to run the STI clinic.

We wanted to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! Our GDL team has so much to be thankful this year, including your generous donation. We are officially halfway through our campaign and have reached 66% of our goal! We are so excited for this progress and can’t wait to reach our full goal.

Our GDL team cannot thank you enough for helping us reach 61% of our goal in just 5 days since the launch of the campaign! Your generous contributions will directly fund student development initiatives and allow student groups to implement the projects they work on throughout the year.
With the generous support we have received so far, we hope to present 2 grants at our End of the Year Event this spring. By the end of the campaign, we are hoping that we can provide at least 3 grants for our winning student groups!

Fund students’ research towards their development project to widen the scope of resources students have access to. By providing access to resources, these students will better evaluate their chosen development issue.
To ensure an ethical, sustainable, and necessary project, each student will conduct a Needs Assessment on the community where their initiative takes place. Your generous gift will provide resources to allow this to happen.
In his project last year, Govind used each $100 to provide 2 full STI screening packages to homeless clients at a Halfway House in Cape Town, South Africa. This package included a screening for 3 STI's, a pap smear and initial treatment.
A large aspect of implementing a project includes the costs of traveling to the community. Your support will allow our student researchers to afford the travel costs surrounding a students' development initiative.
Your generous gift will be given to the winning project at the end of the year so they can implement their ethical and sustainable project. You will be able to see their project presented at our End of the Year Event.
