Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the Ray Manzarek & Jim Morrison Preservation Project to protect these unique pieces of The Doors and UCLA history! We're also grateful to Dorothy Manzarek and the filmmakers, Alex Prisadsky and Ron Raley, for making online access possible.
Dear Donors to The Ray Manzarek & Jim Morrison Preservation Project:
Thank you again for your incredible support of UCLA Film & Television Archive's latest preservation effort to restore the student films of Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison! The outpouring of support from the Archive community and fans of The Doors everywhere has been remarkable to see. Every contribution has been adding up to bring us closer to our $65,000 funding target.
As you know, between 2/28 and 3/10 aka Blue Sunday, Dorothy Fujikawa Manzarek posed a challenge to fans of The Doors everywhere and generously offered to match ALL DONATIONS on a 1-to-1 basis. Thanks to your efforts to Tell All The People, TWENTY NINE new donors stepped up and raised $3,512! Dorothy has agreed to match every dollar, and will generously contribute an additional $6,488 - bringing the new total raised for the campaign to $36,055 or 55% to goal!
With this amount secured, UCLA Film & Television Archive now has enough to begin and complete restoration work on one film!
UCLA Film & Television Archive knows that there are more fans out there, which is why we've been granted an extension on our Spark crowdfunding campaign. The NEW DEADLINE to raise the remaining 45% is 4/1 at 12 PM PST.
You've already done so much by funding the complete restoration of one film! If you're willing to do just a little more, please browse the project donor wall and help the Archive identify other cinephiles or fans of The Doors who haven't yet made a contribution. Then, let them know about the campaign! Every gift of any size matters.
Thank you to Dorothy Fujikawa Manzarek for your amazing leadership contribution and another heartfelt thanks to ALL DONORS for spreading the word about The Ray Manzarek & Jim Morrison Preservation Project!
Thank you for your support so far; every contribution counts! Thanks to you, tremendous progress has been made toward our crowdfunding goal and The Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison Preservation Project is already 39% funded!
While examining the damaged film materials in the film lab, our preservationists spotted Jim Morrison making an on screen cameo behind Ray Manzarek during a scene in Ray’s film Induction! Our team is eager to begin work restoring Ray and Jim’s cinematic visions, and we can’t wait to see (and hear) these films as Ray and Jim intended them!
Can you help us meet the funding target? With just over one week left, help UCLA Film & Television Archive Tell All The People about the campaign and spread the news that DONATIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING MATCHED – but only for a limited-time.
In case you haven’t heard the news, your friends and fans of The Doors everywhere can DOUBLE THEIR DONATION from now until Blue Sunday, March 10th at 5 PM PST! Dorothy Fujikawa Manzarek has stepped forward with a limited-time offer to generously match each donation to the Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison Preservation Project 1-to-1, up to $10,000. For every $1 given, Dorothy will give an additional $1.
