Hello everyone!

We are pleased to inform you that after a LONG two years of waiting, the UCLA Quidditch team has punched its ticket to USQ Cup in Salt Lake City, Utah coming up in just a few weeks on April 23-24! Since our last time back at USQ Cup in 2019, our program has undergone a number of changes including welcoming a fresh class of recruits as well as welcoming back Christian Krieger to the program as our head coach--their help has been invaluable to our team especially helping with our new players learn the in's and out's of the sport. Despite being halted from playing quidditch during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been able to make significant progress throughout this current school year, making a name for ourselves as one of the top programs in the country. We are beyond excited to have this opportunity to represent UCLA at USQ Cup and show that we have what it takes to win it all. 

In order to attend nationals, we are once again calling on you for your support and generosity to help us fundraise money to offset the cost of travel, housing, and tournament fees for our 21-player roster. Your contributions from our previous fundraising campaign not only helped cover the cost of attendance to USQ Cup back in 2019 but has continued to help the program over the past two years with new equipment and jerseys in addition to other tournament expenses. Your support to this year's campaign will likewise be a tremendous help to our program for this tournament and its continued growth in years to come. UCLA Quidditch is home from US Quidditch Cup 12, and while we didn't win the tournament, we had a great time in Texas representing our school and our region.

We beat 3 of the top 10 teams in the nation, including Kansas, one of the favorites to win the championship. We went 5-1 with our star seeker Elizabeth Ng catching the snitch every game. Unfortunately, our last catch sent us into overtime in the Sweet 16 where we fell to NYU, who would eventually go on to the Final Four.

It was a hard fought match and we are proud of what we accomplished this weekend and want to congratulate our fellow UC Cal Quidditch on taking home 2nd place this weekend.

Friends, family, and all supporters UCLA Quidditch:

We did it! Thanks to all of your generous contributions and hard work to spread our campaign, UCLA Quidditch has been able to raise $5,000 to cover the costs of all our flights to nationals this year! We could not have done this without each and every one of you and we are so grateful for your help.

We still have three days left, so here's what we've done:

UCLA Quidditch has established a stretch goal of $6,250 - what does this cover?

The additional $1,250 we are now trying to raise will cover the costs of rental cars and gas, which means all forms of transportation, both ground and air, will be covered if we hit this next goal. Round Rock, which is where the tournament is being held, is about 20 miles from the airport, meaning it is vital for us to have this ground transportation.

How do I know my donation is being used efficiently?

Our team has been using every way possible to reduce costs and save money, from AAA discounts to packing lightly which allows us to choose smaller (and cheaper!) rental cars. No penny donated is going to waste, and any amount fundraised over our stretch goal will then go towards the costs of our housing in Round Rock.

All we ask of you now is to share our campaign to help us reach this stretch goal.

Leave April Fools in the past because this is no joke: we've raised over $750 in the first day of our fundraiser! That's 15% of our goal!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far and to our players for working so hard in these first 24 hours to spread our campaign to you all. So far, your donations are helping us cover the flight costs of 3 of our 19 players - we cannot thank you enough for doing this!
