Support UCLA Women’s Field Hockey 2019! *STRETCH GOAL*

Hi, we are the UCLA Women’s Club Field Hockey team! Our team consists of a mix of first, second, and third years from not only around the country, but also around the world. Our players come from the West Coast to the East Coast, Singapore, England, India, Kenya, and more! Not only are we from different parts of the world, but we range in our majors from Economics to Design Media Arts to Political Science. On our team, we have beginner players who have just started their field hockey career this year in college and also experienced players who have been playing the sport since high school and earlier.

Our team just recently formed, so we are a fairly new club sports team on campus. We’re so excited to get to play field hockey but being a new team on campus, we do not have the necessary equipment and gear to practice as often as we would like. We want to reach to the caliber to where we can play against other California schools and we’re hoping to be able to do that as soon as this fall.

As we are a very new team on campus, we do not receive financial support from the university. Likewise, being such a newly-established team, we do not have funds of our own. Starting with no money, as well as receiving no financial support from the school, puts us in an extremely difficult position with little opportunity to grow. Experienced players with their own equipment come from all over the globe, making it difficult to bring equipment with them to LA. And our new recruits do not have any of the necessary equipment in the first place. We’d like to be able to provide our team the basics needed for game play and practice, like balls, sticks, cones, and goals. With these, we would be able to finally achieve our goal of competing against other Southern California teams. You have the unique opportunity to help break UCLA Field Hockey out of our currently stagnant growth phase and quickly develop into a competitive team.

Your donation of just $5 will help us get one field hockey ball. A donation of $20 would help one of us get a pinnie so that we can scrimmage in a uniform. A $50 donation will help us travel to San Diego for our first game. Reaching a level of $600 will generously fund a field hockey goal, of which we currently have 0. You can also help our team by sharing our Spark Campaign with your friends and family.

Why does all of this matter? Put more broadly, sports are a great way for people to be active and stay healthy. By donating, you are contributing to a cause that's bringing actual impact to students at UCLA, and would go a long way in helping us establish our presence on campus. In addition, USA Field Hockey is currently trying to grow at a national level, so by donating to our team and allowing us to become an established team, you are contributing to their larger goals and vision for the country.
