Since 2013 dancingforNED (No Evidence of Disease) has raised almost $900,000 to support the work of Dr. Beth Y. Karlan and her efforts to advance ovarian cancer case and research. Thanks to support from dancingforNED and our generous friends, Dr. Karlan’s research has helped shift the standard of care for ovarian cancer to a new era of targeted therapies. Now clinicians are about to profile the tumor and personalize treatment, both of which improve clinical outcomes and quality of life. Dr. Karlan’s work in ovarian cancer has also led to new treatment options in other inherited cancers. The FDA has recently expanded drug approval for BRCA-related breast cancer, and soon will approve treatment options for pancreatic and prostate cancer.
Earlier this year, Dr. Karlan accepted a faculty position with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she continues her world-renowned research to find new ways to fight this devastating disease. Dr. Karlan remains one of the foremost authorities on ovarian cancer and inherited cancer risk, and dancingforNED is very excited to partner with her at UCLA.
Your support for this year’s event will have an immediate impact, enabling Dr. Karlan to aggressively expand UCLA’s Gynecologic Oncology clinical trials effort, bringing new therapies and hope to women battling ovarian cancer. Please join us on November 2 to DANCE FOR NED!
