Thank you for your support! This fundraising page has closed, but you can still contribute to their cause here!
In A Beat is a film inspired by a true story of a young boy with autism and sensory processing disorder. Since the story was created in dedication to the autism community, the filmmakers are hosting a benefit at UCLA where they will premiere the film and donate all proceeds from the event to UCLA's Autism Research.
Below you will find information about UCLA's research, as well as details about the upcoming screening!
We hope you will consider attending and donating to their important Center!
THE SCREENING
To pair with the music and dance in the film, the benefit will include an evening of live music, tap dance by the Syncopated Ladies and the star of our film, Chloe Arnold, bites by Holbox, the screening of In A Beat, and presentations by UCLA's researchers! We have a fun and engaging night in store, full of music, film, and science!
We are thrilled to invite you to the event!
Date: November 22, 2019
Location: UCLA Neuroscience Research Auditorium
Doors Open at 6pm!
To RSVP, please email natasha@37laines.com or call 714-322-2050
THE FILM
In the film we follow Darrel, a young African American boy with autism and sensory processing disorder. After his meltdown unintentionally causes the loss of his mother's job, Darrel convinces his mom to let him stay home alone while she attends the biggest audition of her career. But when unexpected circumstances surface he must find a unique way to cope alone.
Our goal with this film is to spread awareness, as such, we want anyone and everyone to be able to attend. Donations are suggested, but not required. Whatever you are able to give will go towards UCLA's Autism Research.
All donations are 100% tax deductible!
A BIT ABOUT CART'S WORK
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the fastest growing neurodevelopmental disorder in the United States, affecting approximately one in 59 children (CDC). The UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) aims to change the world of families impacted by ASD by understanding its causes, improving diagnosis, and developing transformative therapies. CART's goals are:
CART'S FAST FACTS:
SOME OF THE PROGRAMS YOUR DONATIONS WILL FUND...
Training the next generation: Support the research training program, which allows UCLA undergraduate and postdoctoral fellows to work with UCLA CART faculty and their lab.
Research support: Allows faculty to pursue novel research avenues and develop innovative new treatments.
Capital improvements: Funds will support improvements in the current facilities the program uses in order to provide the most comfortable environment for patients and families.
CART’s greatest needs: Enable CART’s leadership to invest in the most pressing priorities, such as patient care, research, and education.
