Thank you so much for your support during our 2022 campaign for UCLA Women’s Lacrosse. Yesterday marked the beginning of our 2023 fundraising campaign and we hope to count on your support again.

Thanks to your help, this season has brought us our largest program yet, with a total of 65 players across two teams. Both our Division I and II teams took home wins at home and on the road, with playoffs and nationals just around the corner. Your generous donations allowed us to hire an assistant coach for the Division II team, purchase even more uniforms (for our ever expanding team), reduce dues, and fund travel to our away games. With your continued support, our teams can take it all the way to San Diego for playoffs and Virginia Beach, VA for nationals later this month. 

This year we are pushing to achieve a fundraising goal of $10,000 to continue covering travel, equipment & training costs, referee & coaches salaries, and other club sports & league dues. UCLA Women’s Lacrosse

After an incredible 17 days, we are thrilled to announce that we met our $10,000 fundraising goal! We want to thank all of the friends, family, alumni, and other supporters who donated to help fund both our Division 1 and Division 2 teams. But Nationals hasn’t arrived yet! We are keeping the momentum going and extending our goal to $15,000! We have another 13 days to push for an additional $5,000 that will help both teams continue to play competitive lacrosse! Additionally, we are so excited to announce that the UCLA Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse Club team has officially received an at-large bid for the WCLA National Tournament! 

After finishing the regular season with an 8-2 record, the Bruins traveled to Grand Canyon University for the 2022 WWLL Championships. UCLA was given the first seed spot due to their undefeated record in the league and started the weekend playing the eighth seed, GCU. It was a competitive game but the Bruins came out on top with a final score of 12 - 10. #30 Macy Anderson shined and scored three goals! Later that same day, the Bruins faced SDSU. #32 Kaleigh Olla scored four goals against the Aztecs and helped UCLA claim the win with a final score of 16 - 13. The Bruins then faced the ASU Sun Devils for the first time this season in the championship game. It was a competitive match up and many Brulax players stepped up to the challenge. Defensive player #27 Sana Iwao had the tough job of face-guarding the top ASU scorer, who averaged 6 goals a game in the regular season, and held her to only one goal. #6 Sydney Riepl secured five draw controls and #32 Kaleigh Olla had 4. The Bruins put up a great fight but came up short of the championship ending with a final score of 6 - 11. 

Fortunately, the 2022 Brulax lacrosse season does not end there! After almost four months of practices, conditioning, strength training, and wall ball, UCLA will be traveling to Round Rock, Texas for the WCLA National Championship on May 4th - 7th. The Bruins are ranked 9th and will face The University of Utah in their first game of the tournament. 

After almost two years, UCLA lacrosse was back and better than ever this season. With record turnout at Fall Ball and winter tryouts, our B team was bumped up from a provisional team to a Division II team. By adding a level of competitiveness to our program, we were able to compete for a position to go to playoffs, an opportunity the team is coming for next year. With this change came high expectations, and our Division II team shattered these expectations. Finishing the season with a winning record of 7-2, the team boasted goals from HALF of its teammates, for a total of 91 goals! Jayden Yamanski led the way with 12 goals this season followed by Sam Lopez and Elizabeth Gerhardt with 9 goals apiece. This season would not have been the same without our amazing goalie, Amy Phillips, who recorded 47 saves, and our amazing defenders such as Abheri Setlur and Ellie Gonzales who had a combined 30 ground balls! We also can’t forget about the lovely Coach Kristina, who has continuously dedicated her time to coaching this program. 

This season included lots of travel, with the team driving to NorCal to face UC Santa Cruz and San Jose State and to San Luis Obispo to meet our rival Cal Poly. The Division II team finished the season off strong celebrating its 3 amazing seniors – Hannah Hobrecht, Jenny Elliott, and Renee Begin – with 2 home game wins. The team is already looking forward to next season’s San Diego tournament, rivalry game with Cal Poly, and hopefully a run for playoffs and nationals!
