#TeamLA: Help Expand Testing and Fight the Spread of COVID-19

Help support the expansion of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) testing in Los Angeles / California!

The lack of reliable testing blindsided the US as COVID-19 spread in cities across the US, and California is still not testing enough. Until we ramp up reliable testing, we cannot identify, separate and treat infected patients and help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Essential workers like medical professionals, grocery store clerks, postal employees, food delivery services, trash/recycling collectors, etc. are allowing us to stay safe at home. We need to do our part by staying at home but ALL OF US CAN DO MORE TO HELP FIGHT COVID-19.

Your donation to this fundraiser will be directed to UCLA Health's "COVID-19 Coronavirus Patient Care Fund" to expand testing & treatment.

I will kickstart this fundraiser with a $1000 donation. Will you join me and #TeamLA? Any amount will help.

Thank you!

Key snippet from NYT article:

The pace of testing in California had remained stubbornly low for weeks, but it appears to be on the rise. Still, the state, with twice the population of New York, has conducted far fewer tests for the virus. Limited testing in California may mean that the state may never get a clear handle on how many are infected. About 65,000 coronavirus tests are being performed on Americans each day — a meteoric rise from just 10 days ago. But public health experts say that about 150,000 tests are needed every day, so that infected patients can be quickly identified and separated. The United States cannot even test everyone who is sick because of a shortage of testing kits and personal protective equipment for health care workers.
