Making Little Bruin Wishes Come True Every Holiday Season!
Little Bruin Wishes, an annual campaign of the Bruin Resource Center's Students with Dependents program, allows the UCLA community to support our parenting students and their families who may otherwise struggle to fulfill their children's holiday wishlists. Thanks to the generosity and strength of our community, this program gives Bruin families the peace of mind they need to enjoy the holiday season and pursue their dreams at UCLA.
"A family favorite has always been Little Bruin Wishes; this campaign has made our last two Christmases so much more memorable for my son. As a first-generation college student, it took some time to get a hang of things on campus but I found there was a small community of other parenting students with similar experiences, I made friends and my stay at UCLA has been less intimidating than I thought it’d be."
This holiday season is unlike any other as families around the world face unforeseen challenges and burdens related to the global pandemic. More than ever, we are relying on our communities and families to help us get through a life changing year. And for many parenting students at UCLA, the additional challenge of balancing the finances of tuition and providing for their families can be even more stressful.
With our goal of $10,000, the Little Bruin Wishes campaign hopes to bring our community together by providing every family in need with something more to look forward to this holiday season. Your gift will ensure that parenting UCLA students don't have to choose between meeting basic needs and providing holiday cheer to their Little Bruins.
Since 2015, Students with Dependents has granted the holiday wishes of thousands of UCLA families. Now, the need is greater than ever as many families, big and small, are struggling due to the challenges of remote learning, meeting basic needs, and increased family responsibilities.
Help us reach our goal of $10,000 to provide at least one gift for every family member! All funds raised will go toward supporting families in need, and ensure that each child can receive at least one gift.
"Little Bruin Wishes has provided my family the opportunity to experience kindness through the caring acts of UCLA alumni. Every year we wonder if we will be able to afford gifts for our daughter and with this amazing program our daughter gets to enjoy a gift that she loves. Thank you for all your support and encouragement during times of hardship and struggle."
Any additional funding will continue to support Students with Dependents programs throughout the year, including community and social events, advocacy for child-friendly university accommodations like lactation spaces, financial support through scholarships and emergency funding, mental health services, and one-on-one counseling.
Thanks to you, parenting students won't have to choose between their education and holiday gifts for their families, and hundreds of Little Bruins will have something to smile about this holiday season.
