UCLA Gymnastics~ Bruins Inspire

We are the UCLA Women’s Gymnastics Team - earning academic and athletic excellence while fostering leadership and positive messaging through a strong media outreach. Katelyn Ohashi, Nia Dennis, or Gracie Kramer may have graced your social media pages during the past few years.  Each of them has garnered global attention and represents who we are: A team of smart, strong, sensational, women competing like champions for their Bruin sisters in ways that inspire nearly 2 million followers around the world.  We pride ourselves in the fact that our student-athletes succeed in the gym and classroom while striving to be champions in life.

Having you, the greatest gymnastics fans in the country, in the stands is one of our favorite parts of our competitive season.  It is the best way for you to share in our journey.  In 2021, our beloved Pauley Pavilion won’t be opening its doors to you due to COVID-19.  Our social media content will be the best way to stay close to our team during these strange times.

We want to ensure that you get to witness up close what it looks and feels like for our women to build on the UCLA Gymnastics legacy.  We want you to experience how our women grow through adversity, build a championship culture, and fly in competition.  If it takes a village to raise a child, it will take the help of Bruin nation to keep sharing our story with you.  The legacy of UCLA Gymnastics has been built over many years by going above and beyond the ordinary, and this campaign is an extension of that philosophy.  In a time when everything is just a bit harder, getting access to our team will be more challenging and we need your help to do this right.

The Bruins Inspire Campaign is our video and social media arm that brings our story into your home. It includes The New Era Documentary Series, video shorts, Bruin Banter, the pre-meet video, the photo shoot, our story-telling pieces, and social media posts. These initiatives have allowed us to connect with you in unprecedented ways, bringing you into our Bruin Den. We have laughed together, cried together, and celebrated together.  We want to continue to bring you the kind of content that inspires you. In a time when we all need more relatable optimism, we want to be here for you.  It is our firm belief that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.  The stories we tell reveal the struggles behind the success and the real people behind the champions.  We have heard from many of you how important the Bruins Inspire Campaign has been to you.  You’ve told us that because you know the heroes on our team have their own struggles, that you have more confidence in facing yours.  You’ve let us know that the team-love our program lives by inspires joy in your life.  By knowing us a little better, we share the wins with you on a deeper level.  

UCLA Gymnastics celebrates the uniqueness of each student-athlete and we are able to share their stories authentically because of our Emmy winning videographer, Deanna Hong.  Deanna is the creative genius behind the Bruins Inspire Campaign.  Like an older sister to the team, the women in our program know they can trust Deanna to tell their truth while prompting inspiration.  

With your support, we can continue to change people’s lives through the Bruins Inspire Campaign.  In a year when you won’t be able to watch us in person, sharing our video stories with you will be more valuable than ever.  Our goal is to have 150 members of Bruin Nation support the Bruins Inspire Campaign through a donation that feels right to you.  On this Giving Tuesday, there are many important initiatives we can support.  The Bruins Inspire Campaign is important because of how it impacts people.  Helping ensure the Campaign continues will allow us to feel even more connected, knowing we did this together.  Your support is truly vital to the Campaign.  

The 2020-21 UCLA Gymnastics Team is committed to building a team founded on trust and driven to perform for the greatest gymnastics fans in the country.  While we have an enormous amount of work to do, we are inspired to battle our way into championship form knowing you'll be cheering us on. Along the way, we will dance, love each other, and share our journey with you.  We hope you join us in this never-to-be-duplicated adventure.
