Our Team:
Hello, we are the 2021-2022 UCLA Women’s Club Water Polo team! As a student-run organization, our team includes motivated leaders who contribute to our success both inside and outside of the pool. As we welcomed many new players this year, our team has grown to a total of 44 girls with a shared love for water polo. After the past year of solely remote team activities and workouts, we are all excited to return to the pool and compete in tournaments against schools from all over California. Our goal at the end of our season is to qualify for Nationals and to get to know each other during this time. We have just recently hired a new coach, Kate McCarthy, and are excited to welcome her to our team!
Allocation of Funds:
With our increase in numbers, our team is also facing increased tournament and equipment costs. We will be entering two teams for tournaments in order to allow more playing time for all of our players. Consequently, our travel expenses must support the large number of girls that need to be transported to the tournament locations. With covid regulations in mind, hotel costs have increased as the number of people allowed per room has been reduced to ensure our health and safety. We are looking to replenish our equipment, including new balls and caps, in accommodation for all of our players.
How You Can Help:
Although we are a UCLA Club Sports team, the university does not provide any funding for our club. As a result, we depend on donations and internal funding to cover the costs of our tournament registration, travel expenses, and athletic equipment. These costs can add up to substantial amounts, and we do not want financial burden to prevent our team from competing or discourage players from joining our team. This is where we need your help! Your generous contributions allow us to support all of our team members in both the competitive and recreational realms of water polo.

We are grateful for all of your support! With the generous donations from our last campaign in 2020 we were able to replace our worn, incomplete water polo caps with a purchase of new game caps for our team. We reduced the annual club dues for our players, allowing for membership to be more affordable. We also participated in a preseason tournament in Irvine this year and were able to reimburse our drivers.
We are all excited to be back in the pool this year and appreciate your continued support!
