Our Crowdfunding Groups
The UCLA Equestrian team is an organization of more than 35 UCLA students with a passion for horsemanship and competition. As college students, we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to continue to pursue the sport we’re dedicated to, spend time with our favorite animals, and build a community of fellow equestrians. Riders on our team have the opportunity to participate in weekly lessons and competitions throughout the Southern California and Arizona area.
This sport is an expensive pursuit and can be inaccessible for many. We aim to support Bruins by subsidizing costs through annual dues. However, between competition fees, equipment, and travel costs for both our horses and riders, expenses can still build up. As a Club Sports team, we don’t receive any sort of funding from the school. We are responsible for funding everything ourselves – this means our costs are either out-of-pocket or covered by our annual SPARK campaign. We are making our return to SPARK this year after a two-year hiatus –due to COVID-19, we were unable to host a fundraiser as our team operations had come to a halt (no pun intended).
Our greatest cost every year is hosting our own horse show, which is student-run. We are responsible for funding facility rentals, stalls for our horses, fees for using other schools’ horses, jump rentals, judges’ payments, and much more. However, we still choose to host an annual show in order to provide the riders of our region with an opportunity to compete. By contributing to our campaign, you would be helping represent UCLA and allow Bruins to put their best foot forward at our intercollegiate competitions.
We would like to thank all of our families, friends, alumni, fans, and the wonderful staff at UCLA for their continued support of the UCLA Equestrian Team. We truly could not do it without you. Even if you would not like to donate to our SPARK campaign at this time, we welcome donations of gently used saddles, bridles, girths, and other equipment and show apparel such as hunt coats and boots. A $25 donation will buy our horses one bale of alfalfa hay. Thank you for helping keep our favorite teammates happy and healthy! (Tax deductible value of $25)
A gift of $50 will cover horse entries for two classes at our show – that is two more riders who get to enter! (Tax deductible value of $50)
A $100 donation covers one stall for a horse at our competition. Without a place to house our equine partners, there is no show! As a thank you, we will send you a UCLA Equestrian baseball cap. (Tax deductible value of $97)
A $250 donation enables us to have an EMT present for one day of our show. Thank you for supporting the health and safety of our riders! You will be sent a UCLA Equestrian baseball cap and tumbler for your generosity. (Tax deductible value of $235)
A $500 donation will cover jump rentals for one day at our competition. What fun is a horse show without jumps? To say thanks, we will send you a UCLA Equestrian baseball cap, tumbler, sweatshirt, and a special mention on our donor banner to be displayed at shows. (Tax deductible value of $465)
A $750 donation will cover trailering fees from our training facility to the show. Our horses deserve a ride, too! To show our appreciation, you will receive a UCLA Equestrian baseball cap, tumbler, sweatshirt, a special mention on our donor banner to be displayed at shows, and your name on a saddle pad to be used in team practices and at competitions. A $1000 gift will cover an arena rental for the entire weekend – basically, a place to host our show! This is absolutely essential for a weekend full of friendly competition, team bonding, and showcasing horsemanship. To express our gratitude, you will receive a UCLA equestrian baseball cap, tumbler, sweatshirt, a special mention on our donor banner to be displayed at shows, and your name on both a saddle pad and a bridle charm to be used in team practices and at competitions.
