Spirit Squad

Welcome to the UCLA Athletics Day of Giving! Your generosity toward the UCLA Spirit Squad helps provide invaluable support. Every gift has a positive impact on their ability to succeed in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.

The Spirit Squad represents UCLA at games, events and appearances throughout campus, across Los Angeles, and around the country. Our Squad encompasses the Dance Team, Cheer Squad and Mascots (Joe and Josie Bruin).

Members of the UCLA Spirit Squad dedicate more than 20 hours per week to practice, training and performances at game day and special events. The heavy time commitment to the Squad and travel to football and basketball games mean that Squad members are often unable to secure paid work and internships to cover tuition costs and living expenses. In addition to special events throughout the year, there is no off season for the Spirit Squad. They cheer at Football (Fall Quarter), Basketball (Fall and Winter Quarters) and Olympic sports (Fall, Winter and Spring) – so they are supporting UCLA and its teams throughout the entire school year.

100% of today’s donations will go to Spirit Squad Scholarships. These scholarships are distributed to all members of the Squad and allow our student-athletes to focus on their academic commitments. Balancing schoolwork with practice, special events and games can be very stressful. Scholarships ensure that Squad members can focus on their academics as well as pursue unpaid internships that are critical to their professional development.
