LA Hacks 2023 is a 36 hour hackathon spanning from April 21-23 held in Pauley Pavilion where students have the opportunity to come together and build tangible solutions to pressing global issues. LA Hacks consists of 46 student organizers spread across 7 teams curated towards specific components of the hackathon. Specifically, these teams target: Hacker Experience & Operations, Sponsorships, Design, Marketing, Finance, Tech, and Social. Together, LA Hacks not only plans every component of the event, but is also present on the day of the event to provide guidance to all attendees. Students from all types of technical backgrounds are invited to work in teams and use technology to contribute to four key areas of focus: travel, sustainability, education, and security.
We hope that our fully in-person event will inspire hackers to create more impactful solutions to these global issues. These issues are not only relevant globally, but also on a smaller scale within the UCLA community, where participants’ projects could positively influence the environment directly around them. Besides gaining experience and contributing to meaningful projects, we hope hackers will gain insight from industry experts through several workshops, panels, and networking opportunities. We hope LA Hacks is a life-changing, beneficial, and memorable experience for participants interested in technological innovation.
The primary mission of LA Hacks is to make technology accessible to those that otherwise do not have easy, affordable access. Regardless of skill level or demographic, LA Hacks is an equal opportunity event for students to learn first-hand about technology, and contribute to our four key global issues. LA Hacks seeks to promote improvement in community issues while inviting members of the community to learn and grow regarding their familiarity with technology.
This year, LA Hacks costs over $160,000, and in an effort to keep the event free for all hackers, we ask for donations to support our cause. Below is our cost breakdown, and we need your help for every aspect of our hackathon!
We recognize the importance of inclusivity and wish every hacker the opportunity to attend and engage in a meaningful event. On behalf of LA Hacks, we thank you for your support towards our event and organization. Without your generous donations, we would not be able to run LA Hacks. Thank you!
