Our crowdfunding campaign has ended, but you can still support Bruin Beekeepers by clicking here.
The Bruin Beekeepers is a beekeeping club at UCLA, as well as a California Master Beekeeper Program (CAMBP) hub. Our main goals are supporting bee populations on campus, maintaining and growing our apiary, and providing beekeeping knowledge to members of our community. We also strive to advocate for environmental awareness and sustainable bee-havior—especially with regards to native bees and their importance.
Bees are an integral part of how our society functions due to their contributions to agriculture and wildlife. On campus, our club aims to support both native bee and honeybee populations. Our Native Bee Project aims to spread education and awareness about native bee populations in California. We are in the midst of researching and compiling a Native Bee Atlas based on Native Bee nests that we will eventually be setting up around campus. Additionally, our club’s beekeepers manage and maintain honeybee hives right here on campus!
As a student-run organization, the upkeep of honeybee hives and development of native hives is an expensive project. Beehives require an assortment of tools, components, and equipment, and our beekeepers need certifications and the correct safety gear to properly handle and manage the hives. Your support will help us obtain all the necessary hardware we need to support more bees on campus and in our apiary!
