Our crowdfunding campaign has ended, but you can still support Lives Without Knives by clicking here.
We are Lives Without Knives (LWK) at UCLA, a student-led social enterprise, simplifying, advocating, and revamping the concept and journey of a vegan and environmentally friendly lifestyle, focused on embracing vegan local business partnerships to achieve our vision. Through our multiple initiatives including our Extensive Media Platform, School & Corporate Programs, and Vegan Local Business Platform, we strive to take empowering steps toward a plant-forward future.
We are currently organizing a Vegan Festival at UCLA, a vegan food and entertainment festival on campus in January 2024
It is our #1 priority to make VegFest 100% free to anyone who attends, from the UCLA community and beyond. We want to spread awareness about the benefits of plant-based eating without any boundaries and foster a sense of community among people in the UCLA area who support a more sustainable and ethical food system.
But we need YOUR help!
LWK is a new organization on campus, so we don't have as many savings to propel our initiatives. Your donation will cover venue fees, permits, equipment, and costs so that local, sustainable vegan businesses can attend and share their incredible food and products.
MORE about VegFest and VegWeek at UCLA
VegFest will be a one-day gathering of 20+ local vegan businesses, 5+ plant-forward student organizations, and sustainability-focused student recreation and entertainment groups at UCLA’s Wilson Plaza on January 18, 2024. We are partnering with Vegan Playground to bring local vegan vendors to UCLA. These various organizations will have booths and tables where they can advertise their products, give out samples, host live activities and entertainment, and spread the word about their organizations.
Our mission with VegFest is to bring together the entire community around UCLA, vegans and non-vegans alike. We aim to provide an environment that makes plant-forward eating and veganism as accessible and exciting as possible. Through pamphlets and personal conversations, we plan to spread awareness about the benefits of going plant-based- for the environment, animals, and human health.
Additionally, VegFest will be a one-day event within UCLA’s Vegan Revolution Week, a week-long set of events that several other UCLA student organizations (e.g. Plant Futures Initiative, Animal Welfare Alliance, Lives Without Knives) are hosting to unite students at UCLA who are excited to change our food system so that it is better for people, animals, and the environment; some of the other events in our Vegan Revolution Week include a Meatless Monday at the dining halls and Plant Futures Initiative’s career fair for jobs and internships in the plant-based food system and animal rights movement.
